This series of paintings was conceived and created during my residency at CCA Andraxt on the island of Mallorca. This works began with the land, the earth and its physical elements forming the underlying base of the work and are created from pigments ground from the land. The handmade hues are then transferred to canvas in subtle shapes and iconography that both honour the origin of the material while illuminating the spiritual aura found in connection to the natural world. By tapping into a spiritual, psychological space, these narratives are activated through meditative states that reveal a visual language rooted in the metaphysical.
