Interrelated Echoes is an interactive sculpture that becomes the vessel for site specific performances where I lye in fetal position within its confines. Its temple-like structure is governed by my own contours. It acts as a container during the performance, and after a residue containing my presence through structural form. Resembling both the womb and tomb, it gives 3-dimmensionality to the projected external body. The solidity of the steel sculpture being in contrast to the ephemeral volumes it expresses. Echoing the body, it can be seen as a temporary structure that facilitates a transformation.

Using abstraction to reduce the complex human anatomy down to essential forms, Luminous Volumes are made through a performative and transformational process. Starting with black canvas laid out on the floor of my studio, I use my own geometric proportions to create reduced forms, which are masked out onto the canvas in layers. Each layer strips away the darkness, revealing the essential nature of the canvas. The beach bleeds out of the confines of its structured outlines, returning again to organic forms. Retaining a figurative quality, the paintings appear to have a presence of their own, illuminated with their own light.
