Signs and Symbols Gallery to open in Manhattan’s Lower East Side

The unconventional space, named after a story Vladimir Nabokov published in the New Yorker in 1948, describes itself as a “curator’s studio” and “a non-gallery gallery.” Khorasheh and Herget had been organizing performances at various locations before they decided to open a venue of their own. The gallery will be inaugurated with a show by British artist Rachel Garrard. Programming featuring artists Derrick Adams, Sarah Entwistle, Jen DeNike, and Matthias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf will follow the exhibition.
